The IATNL is planning trail enhancements activities for 2016, including the Humber Valley Trail, Starlite section of the Grand Codroy Way, and French Shore Trail near Conche. We are seeking adventure-loving low-maintenance volunteers to help on these popular yet under-maintained scenic trails. There is lots to do but we know how to get 'er done and still have fun!

For 2016 trail "work" will include trail maintenance, new trail development, backcountry cabin maintenance, and lots and lots of HIKING! The goal is to have one trail enhancement project per month, whether that be a day of local trail work or a 2-4 day backcountry trail project.

We are planning to kick off the season in May month with a gathering of volunteers and interested folks to review the plan for the summer, cover some basic trail maintenance techniques, and get to know each other! Then put it all into action with some maintenance of the Old Man in the Mountain section of the Humber Valley Trail.

From June until November, projects will continue along the Humber Valley Trail but we also hope to check up on the existing backcountry routes such as the Conche Trail, the Devil's Bite Trail, Lewis Hills, Grand Codroy Way and Blow Me Down Traverse and possibly even help develop new trails in the NEW Cabox Global Geopark!

Needless to say, we need a CREW! Other folks who love to hike and wanna help make western Newfoundland’s trails the best on the island. With a team of dedicated volunteers, we can cover a lot of ground, ensure the trails are up to par, and continue to have great places to hike!
